From Music to Banking to Kingdom Impact
BREA, California—When Byron was studying music, he didn’t envision a career path that included being an “implementation systems representative” at a Christian financial institution. Today he fuels ministry by working—and making music—at ECCU.
After graduating with a music degree five years ago, Byron was engaged to be married. “I told my parents I was going to get a real job,” he recalls. When a friend of his fiancé mentioned an opening at ECCU, he applied. He’s been working at ECCU ever since.
Byron says his coworkers are “great” and the culture is “wonderful.” While he enjoys playing keyboard with a team that leads worship during weekly staff chapel meetings, he’s found that using his musical ability is just one part of his impact. Working at ECCU is about something far more meaningful.
“Sometimes I’ve struggled to see the kingdom impact of my daily work,” he states, “like invoicing or making a call for financial statements. But I’ve come to realize that it’s not about what I do, but who I serve.”
