Holbrook Is Honored for Credit Union Commitment and Service
BREA, California—When you view your job as a calling, you’re inclined to stay at it for the long haul and unlikely to seek recognition for your work. This makes the award recently presented to ECCU President/CEO Mark G. Holbrook especially appropriate. He received the 2011 Unsung Hero Award on December 19 from the California Credit Union League.
League Senior Vice President of Business Solutions Sylvia Fath surprised Holbrook at the December ECCU board meeting. He was chosen “for his long-time dedication and commitment to his credit union, its members, and the industry” according to a news release issued by the league. He came to ECCU after graduating from Biola University in 1975 and has been president and CEO since 1979.
“I am thankful for the privilege of serving ECCU and our credit union industry for so many years, and am honored to receive this award,” Holbrook said. “I humbly accept this recognition on behalf of all the unsung, faithful stewards in our credit unions who labor so diligently on behalf of their members.”
The league also notes his passion for the integration of biblical principles in the workplace. Holbrook received the 2010 Ethical Edge Leaders of Integrity Award presented by the Passkeys Foundation, has served as board chairman for Christian Leadership Alliance, and is the current board chairman for the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.
