Can where you bank make you happy?
If you value time, it can. Turns out, where – and how – you bank has a lot to do with how you choose to live your life.
New research published by the Society of Personality and Social Psychology suggests valuing your time rather than pursuing money may be linked to greater happiness. According to Ashley Whillans, lead researcher at the University of British Columbia, "It appears that people have a stable preference for valuing their time over making more money, and prioritizing time, is associated with greater happiness."
And this study has us at ECCU very happy. This simple awareness is one reason we encourage the ECCU mobile banking app.
Time is a limited commodity. Always has been – yet modern life seems to have a way of speeding up things. Between working more hours per week than we did a decade ago to taking fewer vacation days than our peers in other parts of the world, many people are caught up in an unfulfilling cycle of production and consumption. It’s no wonder that getting back to what matters – your relationship with God, spending meaningful time with family, laughing with true friends, helping out neighbors, appreciating nature and more – is on the minds of a lot of Christians.
Our day-to-day decisions about the little things can add up to big shifts in our pursuit of a Christ-centered life. We know it’s tough to live intentionally when you’re scrambling to find enough minutes in the day for everything you need to accomplish, so we designed our mobile banking app to help you ditch busyness and pursue purpose. With its bank-from-anywhere convenience, you can deposit a check in a matter of moments without a branch or ATM. This new video shows you how easy it is: Simply select an account, enter the check amount, snap a photo and confirm. You’ll be on your way to what matters most in no time.
