It can be a challenge to create a church budget in a vacuum. Should you go use past budgets as a gauge and simply raise or lower those allocations based on your projected income? How do you know if you’ve chosen the best way to allocate your funds? To help you review your budget against other churches, we asked a number of churches for a detailed breakdown of their budget. These churches fell into four categories:
Small = Under 200
Medium = 200–500
Large = 500–2,000
Mega = 2,000–5,000
Surprisingly, there wasn’t much fluctuation in the ways churches distributed their funds. Most line items only varied by a couple points either way. Looking at these numbers should help you identify potential growth areas in your own budget.
