It’s been said that managing money isn’t rocket science because finances are black and white. That may be true, but it can feel like a daunting responsibility when you’re living and working half a world away. The good news is that ECCU’s online banking technology can make this essential discipline much easier. Here’s how.

Step one is to download our mobile banking app on all your devices. You’ll find it in both the Apple App Store and Google’s Play Store. Regardless of the device you use, the app lets you log into your accounts with the same user name and password. Once you’re logged in, managing your money is quick and easy. You can do things like::

Deposit checks up to $10,000 per day for free.

Transfer money between your accounts at ECCU or other financial institutions. You can also transfer money to other ECCU members or send money to almost anyone else using just an email address.

Pay bills up to $100,000 per day.

Wire funds electronically, within the US or internationally, in US dollars or foreign currency.

To make it even easier to manage your money from afar, you can take advantage of a variety of automated banking features like these:

Direct deposit

You may already use direct deposit for paychecks or monthly donations from your sending agency. You can also set up direct deposit with other organizations or people that support you. In most cases a deposit will clear your account before you’d even receive a paper check.

Automatic transfers

These transfers allow you to schedule money to move automatically from one account to another. Most people use it for recurring deposits from a checking to a savings account, or vice versa, so they don’t have to manually transfer those funds monthly.

Bill payments

Automatic bill payment options are offered by financial institutions like ECCU and many companies. With ECCU, recurring payments can be set up for specific dollar amounts or the amount of a specific bill. For a company you want to pay, log onto their website and search for automatic or electronic payments.

Alerts

These are short text or email messages sent to help you monitor a variety of transactions or financial information. They can let you know things like when your account balance is below (or above) an amount you specified, when a deposit is received or when a check has cleared, Alerts can also protect against unauthorized activity on your accounts.

Paying other people electronically is offered by financial institutions like ECCU as well as other technology companies. You provide the recipients email address or phone number and they’re notified to include their bank card or account information. Once they’ve registered their information, you can move money to them as often as you would like. Whether you’re sending money to your children, a family member or a friend, this is quickly becoming the most popular method of paying other people.

What’s the most appealing feature of online banking? Probably the peace of mind that comes from the ability to look at your account activity and statements whenever you want to. Learn more about online banking.
