Deposits & Withdrawals

Through the credit union CO-OP, ECCU members are a part of the third largest ATM and branch network nationwide. With the CO-OP ATMs and shared branches, you have more direct, surcharge-free* access to your money than most traditional bank customers making it simple and convenient to bank with ECCU.

Your options for convenient deposits and withdrawals:

  • Visit one of 5,000+ CO-OP shared branch locations for deposits or withdrawals from your ECCU accounts. Domestic Shared Branch FAQ and Mobile Check Deposit FAQ. Members must be a U.S. Person with a Social Security Number to deposit or withdrawal at a Shared Branch
  • Get cash from over 30,000 CO-OP ATMs nationwide or over 2.2 million Visa® / Plus ATMs worldwide
  • Deposit cash or checks at over 9,000 deposit taking CO-OP ATMs
  • Deposit checks from your smartphone or tablet with ECCU's mobile app.
  • Mail your deposit to our Brea office. Call us to request Bank by Mail envelopes.
  • Electronic transfers to and from accounts at other financial institutions through online banking

  • What type of checks may be deposited? Checks written from a U.S. Bank or Credit Union in U.S. dollars. International checks and Money Orders are not accepted.
  • What are the deposit limits? Deposit up to $10,000.00 each business day. A check deposited (1) Monday through Friday after 4:30 p.m. PT (2) over a weekend (3) on a holiday - will be applied to the next business day.
  • What are the cut-off times? ECCU considers your check received if it is submitted before 4:30 p.m. (PT) on a business day*. A check deposited on a business day after 4:30 p.m. (PT) is considered received as of the next business day. Your entire deposit is generally made available end of business day.
  • When will the money be available? Your entire deposit is generally made available end of business day when deposited by 4:30 p.m. (PT). ECCU may place holds based on your account balance(s) and history. If holds are placed, then up to $200 of your deposit is generally available the next business day*. Up to $5,000.00 of your deposit is generally made available within 2 business days when deposited before 4:30 p.m. (PT). The remaining amount will be available on the 7th business day.
  • What happens after the check is submitted? ECCU will review your check, then accept or reject it. We’ll be sure to email you if we reject your check for any reason. You may also check the status by visiting the Activity page and selecting Deposited Checks.
  • What should I do with my check(s) after I’ve deposited it? We recommend you securely store your check for 7-10 days. After that, destroy it.
  • Can I see copies of checks deposited? Yes. Visit the Activity page and select Deposited Checks. Your check history does not expire.
  • Are there fees for using mobile check deposit? There are no fees for consumer members.
