Why YOU Should Attend the CLA National Conference

When a conference guarantees “something for everyone,” it can be a tough promise to keep. So when the Christian Leadership Alliance (CLA) promises the “premier educational conference for Christian nonprofit ministry leaders,” they have their work cut out for them.

Take a run through the website for the 2010 CLA National Conference in San Diego (April 19—21), though, and it’s obvious they intend to deliver. Offerings include:

Intensive Training Institute (ITI). You get to choose from one of 22 daylong ITI sessions on topics ranging from “Money and the Church” to “Maximizing Donor Relationships.” (Registration cost for ITIs is in addition to the CLA conference fee.)

Workshops. You can attend five workshops from a menu of more than 100. The topic areas include executive leadership, financial management, revenue and stewardship, and tax/legal issues.

Summits. Instead of taking the workshop track, you can register for either the Ministry Internet & Technology Summit or the Church Leaders Summit. CLA invited ECCU to put together the curriculum for the Church Leaders Summit. The sessions being offered were influenced by lessons we’ve learned by working with ECCU member churches during the recession. Following a keynote session titled “Leading with Courage,” you’ll be able to choose four sessions from the following list:

  • Ministry Banking Update
  • Top Three Church Leadership Issues and What To Do About Them
  • Leaders on Overload: Surviving Today’s High-Demand/Low-Resource World
  • Beyond the Offering Plate: A Panel Discussion on Increasing Income
  • Liquidity Management Workshop
  • Maximizing Your Retirement Plan
  • Church Business-Like Ministries: Meeting the Tax Requirements
  • Recession Proof: Funding Ministry in Challenging Times

Add to all this a slate of compelling keynote sessions featuring nationally recognized leaders and presenters, and it’s not a stretch to suggest that there really is something for everyone—including you—at the CLA conference. And there’s still time to register. Just follow the appropriate link below.

Details about the CLA National Conference and Church Leaders Summit are available online. Note that when you register for the Church Leaders Summit, you’ll have access to all the conference general sessions as well.
