Sessions

Session 1 (Keynote)

"Recent Developments Affecting Nonprofit Organizations"
Presented by: Dan Busby, Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA)

This session will present the latest developments and trends affecting nonprofit organizations that leaders need to know. It will include governmental, regulatory, tax, accountability, governance, and public concerns arising from recent scandals and fraud.

Session 2

"Weathering an Economic Storm"
Presented by: Mark Jones, Evangelical Christian Credit Union (ECCU)

Economic trends are making headlines with increasing regularity. What are the implications for your church or ministry? If people in your community are losing their jobs or homes, facing layoffs or salary freezes, or losing instead of making money on their investments, they may soon be giving less. Maybe they already are. In the short term, this translates into tighter cash flow. And in the long run? That depends to a significant degree on how you respond now, before cash flow concerns become a crisis that forces you to react. This session will help you understand the importance of monitoring cash flow and how to determine how much reserves you will need to weather an economic storm.

Session 3

"Exempt Organization Tax Update and Issues"
Presented by: John Butler, Capin Crouse LLP

This session will present recent tax developments that church and ministry leaders need to know. It will discuss the latest legislative developments; recent court cases; and IRS rules, regulations, and compliance initiatives.
