ECCU Membership

How do I qualify?

It's simple, here's how you can qualify for ECCU membership:

Individual

If you are an individual or missionary that agrees with our statement of faith.

Family

If you are the spouse, child, parent (including in-laws), sibling (including in-laws), aunt, uncle, cousin or grandparent of an existing ECCU member or employee. All you need is the member’s name and birth date to complete your online application.

Ministries – Churches, Schools and other Non-Profit Organizations

Through your denomination, school association, or other affiliation like ECFA, CMA, and more. If you don’t have any qualifying affiliations, we can still qualify you by your ministry’s statement of faith.

For-Profit Businesses

Sole Proprietors qualify for business membership with ECCU if the business owner qualifies personally through the normal criteria listed under the "individual" section above.

Partnerships may qualify based on a 50%+ majority owner(s) qualifying personally through the normal criteria listed under the "individual" section above. If two or more owners have the majority stake, each would need to qualify.

Membership Questions

How do I apply?
Individuals can apply for membership and open an account by using our online application. Click here to get started.

What is a member-owned credit union?
Like every other credit union, ECCU is a financial cooperative. At a bank, you’re simply a customer. At a credit union, you’re a part-owner of the cooperative. It’s your financial institution.

ECCU’s board of directors provides overall direction to the credit union. The supervisory committee monitors credit union policies and practices to protect member accounts. Both groups are comprised of volunteer ECCU members who are elected to make decisions that are in the best interests of all ECCU members.

How do I know my money is going to ministry?
ECCU deposits are used for various purposes, all of which directly or indirectly help to fuel ministry. Some deposits are used to fund loans for expanding churches and other ministries. Some deposits are invested and earn a return that, along with revenue we earn from our financial services, enables us to do things like make grants to ministries ($4.58 million since 2005) and offer low-cost banking services to over 3,500 missionaries serving around the world.

If I am no longer a missionary, can I still be a member?
Yes, once you’re a member, you’re always a member. Even if you leave or retire from missionary work, you can keep your ECCU membership and your missionary accounts and benefits.

If I leave my church, school, or job, can I still be a member?
Yes, once you’re a member, you’re always a member. Even if you switch churches or jobs, you can keep your ECCU membership.
