What is a member-owned credit union?

Like every other credit union, ECCU is a financial cooperative. At a bank, you’re simply a customer. At a credit union, you’re a part-owner of the cooperative. It’s your financial institution.

ECCU’s board of directors provides overall direction to the credit union. The supervisory committee monitors credit union policies and practices to protect member accounts. Both groups are comprised of volunteer ECCU members who are elected to make decisions that are in the best interests of all ECCU members.

How do I know my money is going to ministry?

ECCU deposits are used for various purposes, all of which directly or indirectly help to fuel ministry. Some deposits are used to fund loans for expanding churches and other ministries. Some deposits are invested and earn a return that, along with revenue we earn from our financial services, enables us to do things like make grants to ministries ($4.58 million since 2005) and offer low-cost banking services to over 3,500 missionaries serving around the world.

If I am no longer a missionary, can I still be a member?
